NYPK is the first and official home of Parkour in the New York New Jersey and the surrounding Metro area.
Our goal is to help guide practitioners toward their own path, and to discover the art and respect it as we do.
We believe that every journey in Parkour is unique, and each individual, through much hard work and self sacrifice, must discover the meaning of Parkour for themselves, while watched and helped by the leaders of the community. While we are here to help anyone who may need help training, understanding and implementing Parkour, we keep a unique lisses faire approach to personal development. While Parkour does have an established definition, it takes years of dedicated training to understand it and to find where the real freedom lies. Parkour is not a means to physical freedom, it helps to break the mental and physical barries that limit human potential.
It is not an expression, a method, or religion, it is simply a way to train the body to overcome obstacles. We aim to find balance between leadership and our own journeys.
NYPK is a grass roots community, it was founded in 2005 by two of the most verteran practitioners, to help establish New York as an independent voice for Parkour. It was the first local site to be started in America, to help develop a local community, and help Parkour grow towards a positive future in America.
What we do:
We have done everything from performances at arts fetivals, to commercial shoots, to advertisements, and feature film.
Where we've been:
From gyms, to alleyways and parks, to the rooftop of madison square garden. We have been all over the world, to train, learn, and grow.
