The pk lives inside me!
...However, it's deep inside at the moment.
Most of you who know me would probably say I am extremely energetic, with strangely little fear and usually a happy person, except for when I became very very angry.
Well, within the last five months, I have discovered that I am quite severely bi-polar. (type 2) This is a disorder you inherit from one of your parents.
I also found out I have PTST (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Needless to say, I am heavily medicated, and feeling good, only have normal human fear and less aggression, which seemed to fuel my pparkour.
Why write this? Partially because i want to hear from others who struggle with illness and hear their story, and also to tell you guys that I'm down-right different now. All of my videos reflect someone whom I no longer see when i look in the mirror.
I still love parkour, but I'm learning to look at it in a new light. To see it as fitness, not a savior. To see discipline, not def-defying feats. To sum it up, i just grew up over night. 10 years more mature in only 5 months, and i will be on this medication for the forseeable future.
I hope that the changes in me seem good to you guys! See you soon![/quote] _________________ NYPK Vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/NYPKTraceurIRISH

I once saw parkour as a savior, but I realized (or it shown to me) that the world will not change only the people. Try not to get hung up on the "new" you, just focus on doing what you love and the rest will take care of itself. _________________

Irish, my father has referred to you as my parkour uncle ever since I first met you, since you were really the one that welcomed me to the community. Glad to hear you're doing well, and I look forward to seeing you again soon! Much love man. _________________ Movement is not an option. |

Thanks guys, and especially you Max. It's funny, you WERE a lot smaller and younger looking when you joined us. I guess people might have thought I was your uncle. Now, you can use my head as an elbow rest. _________________ NYPK Vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/NYPKTraceurIRISH

I've been diagnosed bipolar as well, and am generally pretty fucked up in the head place. I took medications(a plethora) for a while, and it did not solve my problems. If you can find any other therapy, I'd go for it, medication is just awful from my perspective of it. PK4LIFE, of course, and there's writing, and yoga, and pot, and juggling, and tea, and massage, and positive thought patterns (intentionally hypnotise yourself with self-help books:) ), and all sorts of other things to settle the mind. Best of luck, if you ever need to talk to someone, 631 747 4080, and continue to rock on. _________________ carectomy |

Thanks Twitchkidd! It's funny, your nickname really suits bipolar actually. You know, that constant buzzing and noise in the brain, that explosion of energy and emotion. Living life without medication was getting a little dangerous for me unfortunately, but I'm glad you found a way (some ways) to get some peace.
Good news! I LOVE my new meds, and I'm runnin' happy and smooth, right down the middle of emotion and logic. I'm experiencing a new kind of stability at home and work. Parkour is BACK!
The game has changed however, and I step outside and ask myself, "Irish, what does pk mean to you today?" Then I think "TREES!" or "Scaffolding!" and I do what feels right. I don't go out there being hard on myself or try to break records or anything. I also don't use meds as an excuse. I'm in a good place and ready to jam again. I hope to see you guys soon. _________________ NYPK Vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/NYPKTraceurIRISH
